NF500 / woodywagon

Aimed at the executive yacht owner who seeks something a bit special to carry them around when in harbour, Milan based Castagna (creators of the Fiat 500 WoodyWagon, among others) have created another Fiat 500 variant, the Fiat 500 Tender Two, in the spirit of the original Ghia Fiat 500 Jolly.

As part of their extensive modifications, the doors, roof and tailgate have been removed. To counter this the side sill are raised and reinforced to stop the Fiat 500 shell going all wobbly. A removable canvas hood offers shelter from the elements, and the interior is finished in teak with wicker and blue upholstery.

If you thought the diesel or 1.2 petrol Fiat 500s made the ideal little run-around, Castagna, in association with Swiss firm MES-DEA have converted the Tender Two into an EV. Between impressively brief four hour recharges, the Fiat 500 Tender Two can reach 80mph, and has a claimed range of 86 miles.

At this year’s Geneva Motorshow, Italian specialist coachbuilder and tuner Caroozzeria Castagna will be showcasing their new Fiat 500 “WoodyWagon”.

The WoodyWagon is the first example of an aftermarket company considerably altering the bodywork and underpinnings of the standard 500, stretching and dressing the Fiat 500 to produce a retro futuristic station wagon version of the hit small car.

Could this give a glimpse of the official Fiat 500 Station Wagon, or Giardiniera, that Fiat are said to be planning for the year 2010?
