Default A few new features for people to play with - personalised profile pages, photo albums

Hello folks.

Take a look at your user control panel and you will see new features available to you. I'd appreciate your thoughts and feedback on these new features.

Please note, these are part of the new vBulletin software and some things may change slightly in the near future, but not dramatically.

Among options available to you now are the ability to create your own photo albums on NF500, and the ability to customise your own profile page: http://nf500.com/forums/profile.php?do=customize

All of these new features are available via the "user cp" or "User Control Panel" http://nf500.com/forums/usercp.php

I see these as a chance to personalise and take a little ownership of your own corner of the website, your own part of the community here at NF500.

There is also a new "social networking" feature, which can also be explored from the usercp.

Also, you may now add "tags" to discussions/threads on the forum, to help other users find topics they may be interested in. But this is completely optional.

Explore the new stuff, enjoy it, and if you break it (or rather, it breaks itself) please let me know what happened so we can work at fixing it.

I hope the photo albums prove popular, I see you can 'befriend' people now too?! We'll see how all the twiddley new bits go down and then work on tweaking things to peoples' liking a bit more.

Been working out a few little bugs, mostly in the display.

It would also be nice to be able to 'show off' album images more easily I think, so I'll look into that, but want to get some tasks from 'wish lists' done first.

Default A way to say "Thank You"

Another new feature just added is the the ability to say "Thanks" by clicking "Thanks" on any post. It's just a nice, quick way to show appreciation for a post without actually posting "Thank You" or similar. I've used this on forums in the past and it always seems popular, and besides, I like it!

Paul, it might be a good idea if you made friends with all new members, just incase they have any queries etc. Just an idea might give you more work to do than you alredy have though! x

Default Car CP

Paul ... I noticed in all the options available in the user CP, there isn't one for us to list the spec. of our cars, or have I missed it? There was a thread I started sometime ago where people could record what their vehicle spec. was ... could be a useful addition to the user profile. Lots of people are listing their spec. as part of their signature. I quite like the one used by TonyWalk where there are symbols for each of the different options .... sooooo .... do you think it would be a good idea to have such a "car profile" and add a link to this from people's postsor their username. Cheers, Tino

Cheers mate, glad you like it. Took quite a while to do.

I got the notion to do a config strip like this a couple of years ago from Dell's laptop forum where people were posting configs in a similar vein. So I ran with the idea and came up with the attached. When it came to the config of my 500, it wook a while to work out how to do the icons then quite a lot of work making them.
