Default The Fiat 500 Spotted! Thread

Use this thread to record any 500s you see on the road (being delivered to a dealership on a transporter doesn't count! ) with pictures if possible...

I saw my first one today at about 10am!

A Tropicalia Yellow Sport driving around Birmingham in the area of the NIA/ICC.

Sadly I didn't have my camera with me

No, I work in Gloucester, but the Fiat Dealer Conference I was at today was held at the ICC.

I just spotted/followed {stalked} a Red 500 Sport with the usual white spripes down the side, driving through my home city of Lincoln.
Registration Number W V 5 7 B B K.
I shall be well jealous if scrogg gets to drive that one in a couple of weeks.

I was amazed to see one locally. We are usually a month or more behind the rest of the country.

I accosted the driver and 2 passengers. Apparently its a Fiat press vehicle, although if he's a journalist I didn't recognise him. He says its a 1.2 Sport in which case it certainly made it up the fairly steep Lindum Hill in Lincoln with his 2 passengers no problem at all....almost as nippy as my ka perhaps

No digi camera at the mo, but took a few photos with my film based disposable camera which will get 'processed' in a few months...by which time there'll be loads of 500s on our roads.

Anyone else seen one on the road yet, preferably with picture(s)?

So how jealous will you be when I tell you I've been driving that one (albeit with the 1.4) since Tuesday?

Default nudge nudge wunk wink.. I promise I will say no more

I got to see a few 500s at Heart of England last week.
I mentioned on FF that I knew some senior people had been getting up to 'naughties' (nudge nudge, wink wink) instead of working at this Fiatland event and I suggested my silence could be bought for a look at the cars at H of E conference centre.

It's a long time since I was involved in the press and media but my office miraculously got a call very soon after and I went and saw the 500s which dealer staff and the press have been playing with recently near Coventry.

Anyway my silence has been bought....I wish I'd asked for even more: the secretary here says
I should have demanded unlimited use of a Free 500 for ay ear at the very least

-------
Regarding the red 500 sport
W V 57 B B K
a Fiat press fleet car
which I spotted locally to me (LIncoln)
see my previous post on this thread.

I still dont know if it was a 1.2 or a 1.4
Can anyone find out for me or tell me how I find out?
I'm told that this information should be available via a DVLA data site?
Anybody know how?
--------
A Photographer - friend of a friend - expects to be called to see customers collecting their 500s from a dealer or two within the next week. He's probably working for Fiat UK or one of their agencies. I'll see if I can find out where these customers cars are located. It seems to me some lucky people are getting very close to geting their dream 500s on the road.

Go to this link:

DVLA Online Vehicle Licensing | Home

Click on the 'Enquiry' button, then enter registration and model. (I never knew that there were so many makes of vehicle!)

You get amongst a few other things:

Date of First Registration 18 12 2007 (someone had a treat for Christmas!)
Year of Manufacture 2007
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1242CC
CO2 Emissions 119g/Km
Fuel Type Petrol

So it is a 1.2 Petrol.

There used to be a web page that could also tell you how many previous owners a secondhand car had (RAC I think), but that was presumably stopped when the facility became too popular and people weren't paying for a 'premium' service.

Tends to blow the theory of those who swore blind there were no 1.2's in the UK. Apologies on a postcard accepted.

Good work chaps.
Thanks very much.

A 1.2 it was then.

I am told this same car was at the Press 'do' (Greater London/Kent?) a couple of weeks ago
at about the same time as the dealer staff were near Coventry.
So there's no excuse for UK journalists not to give us their honest opinion of the little 1.2.

Thanks again
KevinB
over and out.

I know I'm not guilty! There just arn't any 1.2s at the dealers in this country. Of course there will have been 1.2s for the press etc
