Well, confession time.

Well, who voted in Labour? I didn't in the last three elections, so this is the latest in a catalogue of stealth taxes.

Sorry.

The argument about stealth taxes is ludicrous. The dictionary definition of stealth is secret, clandestine or surreptitious. However I think you will find that all government taxes and spending plans are a matter of public record. They are published and there is no need for anyone not to know what is going on.

Sorry to pee on bonfires but I don't believe that charge free access will be given to 120g/km cars or less when October comes - this rule was going to be enacted in Feb this year but got put back as there were questions being asked by greenies.....

Ken got flack for letting LPG motors and hybrid Lexii (Lexus plural?) with 4 litre engines in that produce 250g/km. The rule on 120> is likely to open the floodgates and result in wait for it... congestion! Every manufactirer has now tweaked their 1.6 diesel ECUs to produce a cheap 119g/km car so there will be loads of them about in time (I know the level of cars producing below the threshold is only 5% but with the price of fuel at £1 plus ltr and raod tax on the up - won't be long before they are common)

My money is on the level being reduced to 100g/km or less so that VW Bluemotion drivers will be the only lot allowed in, gawd forbid! There ends my Sunday transport sermon.

It's a figure-of-speech used to describe anything we pay that isn't officially called a tax but where the money goes straight to the government.

Congestion charging and the First Registration Fee on new cars are two good examples.

Nobody is actually saying they are secret, or that we don't know what they are for.

I don't live in London so don't vote for the mayor who's bringing in these decisions, but it appears the majority of Londoners support him... So far!

Did you read that in the Mail?! There's no way something like that would be workable, sounds like scare mongering to the extreme. Personally I can't stand stuff like that, as there's loads of serious issues with the government that seem to get passed over in lieu of propaganda and speculation.

If the government cant be bothered to properly asses houses to charge them correctly for council tax, you seriously think they're organised enough to check each house for their parking and views (which would always be debatable).
