Nope, I'm afraid I have a degree of mechanicall sympathy, I'll gradually build up until after about 1000miles it will be used "properly".

Same here ... which may explain the 59.6 MPG ... so tantalisingly close to the magical 60 ... I hope to get there this evening

At 267 miles I filled up, gauge was at 1/4 full, range said 87 miles so I played cautious until I know the car a little better, tank average was 45.7mpg, so I'm very happy for a new engine.

Also it's loosening up wonderfully already, it WANTS to rev, I just won't let it........at the moment

Has anyone got average mpg readings for a 1.4 Sport. My black beast has done nearly 500 miles and is averaging around 32 mpg around town. I'm loving every minute of my 500 experience.

Cracked it ... 60.3 MPG ... not driven the car for a couple of days ... so no chance to report any changes.

On my second fill-up, first was from the dealer (although not strictly full)

1.3 Diesel
  • 357 miles to date split as 70% motorway (rush hour) and 30% town
  • Average consumption (B) is at 60.4 MPG (using B as a total rolling average)
  • Average consumption (A) is at 60.1 MPG (using A as a trip recorder which is reset at each fill)
  • Average speed 27 MPH
  • Range on first part fill was 318 miles before fuel light cvame on
  • Second fill range is estimated at approx 440 miles

When I reset average consumption A, it just takes 40 miles to get back up to 60 MPG, from a starting point of mid 40's MPG.

@411 miles (still on second tank of fuel)

Trip (A) fuel consumption average 63.2 MPG
Rolling (B) fuel consumption average 61.0 MPG
