You'll probably find people pull out in front of you at junctions less too. In my old MINIs I figured that when I had my lights on people would not pull out of me on Milton Keynes' main roads (60 -70 mph) when with the lights off they would do so much more frequently! Strange but true.

Question drl...

do you think there is a risk of other motorists thinking the 500 day time running lights look like a headlamp flash...? may be thats why folk leave them off? when are they standard on all vehicles? slim.

I turned mine off as they are pants IMHO.
Will turn them back on when my replacement (aftermarket bulbs) are delivered.

Is it legal to drive without lights switched on in daytime in the UK? Here we would have been pulled over by the police and given a ticket if we did that It`s illegal to sell a new car in Norway without daytime runninglights.....The only exeption is vintage cars with 6volts electric systems...
I thought it was the same rules all over the EU Sweden has got the same rules as we got in Norway....

Daytime running lights are still pretty much an alien concept in this bright, sunny, long daylight hours island we live on (?!), but they're becoming more common, and will, I can't recall when, become a legal requirement on all new cars, but I don't think it will be a legal require to actually use them, even then.

Default DRL - daylight running lights

I put my DRL's on as soon as i got the car, and have been left on.
I have not yet been flashed by anyone, or have yet to be stopped by the police mistaking them for fogs.

On the other forum I am on, I saw a thread that MY2009 all new cars must have DRL's BUT its not illegal to leave them off, there are some european countries where if a car has them they MUST be on.

We had this debate a while back. I switched mine off ask I got flashed loads and people kept telling me I had my fog lamps on (even my mates that are quite savvy about cars) just thought it would be less hastle to have them off. I personlally dont like the look of them on during the day and I havent had anyone pull out on me yet. Oh tell a lie, only once my indicator clicks off on a right turn too early and a lady wasnt paying attention as she was going hell for leather towards the round about. Nothing to do with the lights though. x
