The CO2 emissions reduction is decent, but not amazing, however every little helps. The consumption is a reasonable boost too.
I was just talking to my wife about this whole field of "reduced emissions" and low consumption vehicles. Every manufacturer seems to be doing a little at the moment, but they're not combining all the possibilities. For example, different brands such as BMW, Volvo, Fiat are reducing emissions and upping consumption using technologies like stop-start, brake energy regeneration, different tyres, different wheels, weight reduction, gearing technology... but not enough of it seems joined up. I think in the not too distant future they'll combine these technologies and improve things much further, which will devalue these early "half baked" eco-models, which will be bad for early adopters, but good for those looking for more choice of cars with good MPG and low emissions. Feels a lot like the PC market, you know they can do more, but they'll keep some back for next years updates.
