Hi folks,
Thanks for that - I too was under the impression that the light steering disengages above 40mph for safety reasons, but I didn't know whether the light was meant to go off automatically too and if so then whether my car was faulty. Sounds like the light's supposed to stay on, so you've cleared that up for me.
Thanks all!

Don't knock the "girlie" button.

Found it invaluable a few years ago on my Punto Sporting. I'd tweaked a tendon in my right elbow making gripping stuff (i.e. the steering wheel) with my right hand very painful.

Fortunately the "City" button allowed me to get to and from work, something I would not have been able to do with the two MINIs (esp. my Cooper S) I have had between my two latest FIATs.

Might have a trial on my way to work next week and see how the "City" button affects fual economy on a longer journey. A lot of the route is 40mph-plus (and twisty) so hopefully handling won't be compromised.
