Thats where Ford, Vauxhall etc fall down IMHO, the base model get hee-haw (technical term) in them and you pay through the nose for something with a decent spec

I agree the base model Ka is quite basic but you can get one new/as new pre-registered for £5000 or less, which is a bit of a bargain IMO. Depreciation is never going to be a massive problem with a purchase price like that.

I voted 'OK'. If it didn't have a Ford badge on it I'd probably quite like it... But because it's the replacement of my all time favourite car and they've simply replaced it with a generic looking Corsa/Yaris/Peugeot clone with no original design flair (like the original had bucket loads - whether you liked it or not) I'm just not fussed about it.

As Tom already knows,
they've started producing the new ka at the Fiat Auto factory in Tychy Poland, alongside the 500.

This is the only picture I can find of the 500 and ka 'together'.

Doesn't look like they're on the best of terms.

They've been getting in each others way I think,
sharing the same production line recently - see below

To give each other 'space' the new ka will from yesterday be built on a separate production line.

One of the first kas produced was signed by a lot of the people involved yesterday (including the Polish
Vice Premier) during the official launch

Then the 'signed' ka goes into the Fiat factory museum
with some other earlier vehicles:

Here's a fairly basic ka having its photograph taken yet again this week,
with a few 500s in the background being totally ignored. No doubt they are plotting
how they will get their own back at playtime!

OK, I admit it, the new ka has got a bit of a big gob and hasn't got the best looking face ever,
but maybe that's why I feel an affinity for it.

Here is Ford Kas answer to the 500s ivory interior:

At last, A Ford worker gets his hands on a 500....Mwah hah Hah
and deliberately sets it up all wrong (allegedly)

Then after a polite round of applause from the dignitaries at the end of the ka launch ceremony

They all s*d off down to the pub

Ford and Fiat working together
in perfect harmony!

I think the main problem(s) with the Ka are the side and read views. The front is different, very "Ford" (at the present time) and has a lot of character. Start moving around it and it loses it's shape, continuity, and identity.

There will be more information released about the Ka in a few days time (Paris Motor Show).

Workers at the factory have said they would buy the Ka rather than the 500,
but I am told thats because the price of the Ka is expected to be lower than the 500, and price
is important when you live in Poland and only earn a few 'zloties' a month!

The new Ford ka - in front again

and again

...and the little black Ka said 'Wheeeeeeee'this must be Alton Towers'
