Default Really Bad FIAT Approved Bodyshop Work

OK,

Luigi had to go in for a new filler flap and to have the inclusions in the paint on the bonnet sorted, along with a new passenger side seat base as the stiching was pulling.

The car came back to me with...

1. The bonnet covered in swirl marks, deep sctraches, holograms & buffer trails.

2. The filler flap is a mass of wet flatting scratches & fish eys where the paint has not taken.

3. whilst fitting the seta cover some tool has dropped something fairly heavy on the sill & dented it badly & scratched it.

Really pissed off.

is there a chance of rejecting the car Mark and getting another?

somehow I don't think their efforts will ever be 'factory' standard and certainly not the concours standard you expect.

Rather keep the car, I'm rather fond of him.

If the paint was sound with no areas that were thin etc I'm more than happy to machine polish it myself, this is what I did recently & it came up like a sheel of glass.

But when it comes back with paint pissing, fish eys & dents, that's a whole different story.

Really sorry to hear about that Mark. This is exactly my concern about sending mine in to sort out the dirt under the paintwork. It's never the same once it has a respray!

Still waiting for the touch up paint!

Well Martin Delaney @ FIAT customer care & the zone manager have got involved, Martin has promised to ensure the work is carried out to at least factory standard & is going to "have a chat" with the dealer.

Have finally got up the courage to ring the dealer about the dirt under the paintwork. He hadn't heard of any others with the same problem. I explained that I had been on this website and told him about your experience Mark.

I have also noticed a really strange swirling mark on the rear of the passenger side. It is only visible in really strong sunlight as long as it shines on the car at the right angle. The dealer said he had come across a similar situation where there was moisture under the laquer.

Will be taking it in over the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Oh and I mentioned the touchup paint again - still not available and the suggestion was to go to Halfords. I did ask whether the body shop could mix some up for me and I await their reply.

Well, the car goes in this afternoon. Let's hope they get it right this time.

Fingers crossed for you, I HATE bad customer service, and it seems FAR too common in the motor trade.
