Angry Blue&Me with USB Hard Disk

I have connected a USB Hard Disk to my Blue&Me (80 gig, but only using 17 gig at the Mo). Its a laptop based disk, so all power is from the USB socket.

Everything has been working great for 3 weeks (it took a while to build the library!!!), but now when the car starts, it will play the first 10-20 seconds and then stop. It comes up no media.

If i then disconnect and reconnect, it will play and stop after 10-20 seconds and so on. however, today it worked fine for 15-20 minutes, and then started it usual pattern.

Has anyone else successfully connected a USB Hard Disk to Blue&Me? Does Blue&Me have capacity restrictions? Could it be taking too much power from the socket?

p.s. Hard disk works fine on all PC's, even whilst i was shaking it violently.

It's a lack of power thing. Find another disk with lower power consumption. Or use a power adapter.

Just an update really, I now have a usb incar ipod charger (Griffin PowerJolt) which provides power for my harddisk (using usb to power cable that came with the disk enclosure).

Everything has been working well, until this morning when i stalled the car. When i restarted it i had to rebuild the media library.

Does anyone know where the media library is stored?? is it stored on the device or in the car??

my hunch is it is stored on the device, making it possible to corrupt after a sudden loss of power.

Nothing appears to be stored on the drive. I think it is kept in a small amount of memory somewhere in the car. I also surmise that the library has to be rebuilt when changing what's plugged in.
