Talking Worked it out!! Instructions for using a Creative MP3 player with Blue and Me.

Hi Everyone,

I picked up my 500 today (Guiseppie) and prior to this I had been searching the forum and asking users for details on how to use a creative zen MP3 player with Blue and Me.

I am happy to say I have worked it out so anyone else having the same problems please just follow these instructions as they work perfectly.

On the creative player under the "extras" option, you will have a removable disk option. You have the choice to partition the hard drive of your Creative player to a specific capacity ..e.g 1gb, 5 gb, 16 gb etc ..depending on how big your device storage is.

I will use the following example.

If you have a 16gb capacity then you should partition 8 gb as removable disk space.

This leaves you with 8 gb worth of tunes to put on your MP3 player and listen to as you normally would when using the player.

The additional 8 gb is essentially removable storage space ie ..acts same was as a standard USB memory stick.

If you plug your Creative player into your Blue and Me USB slot then the Blue and Me will only recognise what is on the removable disk portion of your player ...you cannot use the normal menu system you are used to ...however.

If you have 8 gb worth of tunes on your Creative, just open up your creative media source organiser on your PC. On the left hand side you will see the area saying "source". The next to panes to the right are "Artist and Album". In the "Artist" pane, select [all artists]. Under the "title" pane to the right hand side, you will see the title of all the tracks you have on your MP3 player.

Simpy highlight your music collection and then drag the selected tunes to the "sources" pane and dump on the (E, or whatever your removable drive shows up as. Easy !!!

The beauty of this is that when you plug your Creative player into the USB slot on the Blue and Me, because all your tracks are originally organised in your media player by artis, album, genre etc ( assuming you have set them up as that ...if ripping directly from a CD then this file structure will already exist), the Blue and Me will recognise all this data on the files that are stored on the removable disk space.

So ...basically , you can then use the navigation choices in the Blue and Me Media selection to navigate your MP3 by artis, album, title etc etc.

Simple!! I am so happy that I can use my Creative Zen with my 500 and hopefully this helps someone else with a Zen Media player ...and saves them some cash on purchasing another media player or USB stick.

Hope it helps!

Hi Mike

Glad you got that sorted. Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply to the PM but it has been a mental week at work. You have worked everything out as far as I can see and your guide is perfect. Nothing to add from me really but remember that your playlists have to be on the removable side too along with the tracks that are on the playlist too.

Cheers
Rik

I have (i think) the same MP3 player (Creative Zen) but cannot find this option under extras?
Can you post a pic of your player and a pic of the menu screen with it on?
Really hope i can get this working.
