Default Ipod connection probs

Well besides the problem that my car was built (1.3 diesel) with the defective parts, even though build was delayed and now has to go back to a dealer to get fixed is another issue but I bought a brand new Ipod holder and connection kit and it doesnt work properly.

It will play a song and then it totally swtiches off, like its disconnected. I plugged it in again but it happened twice more before I just gave up.

Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I will just buy USB/Flash drive, cant be asked to deal with another defective part of my 500.

It sounds as though you are using Blue&Me, but could you just confirm this. I intend to purchase the connection kit (non B&M), and are therefore interested in any stories.

Thanks

Yeah old Bill Gates is pissing himself laughing at all the people trying to get their Ipods to talk to blue&me. The evil empire strikes once more.

But seriously, just buy a memory stick, so much cheaper than an Ipod and can make your playlists on it and off you go, plug and play.

Yep its blue and me and I have been trying to use my Ipod. I have just wasted £40 + on a kit thats useless.

I met someone at work who also has a new 500 and she had the same probs, so bought a memory stick (no prbs at all).

Memory stick for me.

4gb stick here, so easy to take out when you leave the car, no need to stow the iPod & holder away.

The non-Blue and Me ipod kit does work fine. It is, like all the ipod car kits (VW, BMW etc.) playlist driven. The kit hijacks the ipod completely, you can't access tracks from the ipod, only through the buttons on the radio. I can't make the track names come up on the car displays.
Fitting the kit took around 2hrs, If i did another probably 1hr or less. You will need Torx screwdrivers in the correct sizes. Also although the instructions are in English and Italian the English is for an LHD car so you must reverse left and right.( If anyone wants to fit one I can do a more detailed thread.)
Until it did this I didn't realise there is a little pop-down pocket behind painted part of the dash (passenger side) that is perfect for ipods, parking tickets etc.
Still think the car excellent, Norwich-Birmingham-Norwich in a day, 46mpg (computer) at decent speeds.

thrifty, what generation pod do you have? I heard from my dealer that mine wont work with the non B&Me connection kit, just wanted to verify this.

Oh is this the fiat kit they advertise on the website, or another after market one?

Thanks

Hi Peco,
I have a 2nd gen nano (the pre-video model), The kit is the Fiat one that costs around £80, still no regrets, it does work well.

Thanks for the info. Need to find someone with a classic ipod (5th gen video - i think!!), that uses the non B&M connection kit.

Cheers again,

P

I'd like to know why that should have connection problems, It sounds to be a more recent one than mine.
