My iPod doesn't work either. When I connected it, it just played Shania Twain over and over again - I haven't got any flipping Shania Twain on the thing! Really frustrating and haven't really explored any further yet. Am going to see if the software needs updating and then try again, but think a memory stick might be the way to go.

Got another prob. Bought a 4gb memory stick and dragged across a music file and saved it in wpl format but when I plug in the USB nothing happens. I have pressed every button I can find but there doesnt seem to be one for mp3, just radio and cd. I looked in my manual but that doesnt give any clear instructions.

If I plug in my mp3 why doesnt it just play like a cd does? The manual show a pic of the radio screen and in the left hand corner you see the words MP3, I have no clue what I am doing wrong, why is this so hard?

Help !!

Check out this thread, All you do is plug it in and it plays. I think that the computer is fussy as to what USB devices it accepts.. Read the blue and me manual page 50. It looks like according to that it prefers 1.1.1, an 2.0 MB sticks and there is a list of compatable ones. Although I just tried the few I had at home and I got a 1MB Technica one it accpets.

Check the format is acceptable too. Good Luck. x

Has anyone one tried copying mp3 files onto their ipod separately rather than having them in itunes?

I went to the dealer today and read the instructions which was not much help. Typical Microsoft product, almost half the manual is devoted to troubleshooting LOL

Thanks B xx

Damn if I have chosen a non compatible stick then its another £40 down the drain, which would make £80 in total so far = no music thus far

Thanks will take your advise and read the manual again

Please tell me you didn't pay £40 for a 4gb USB drive. You can get 16gb ones for that.

I have a 8gb Patriot Xporter XT Boost drive (rubber coated and matches the cars interior). That just plugged and played. £23 plus p+p it cost.

If B&M likes what is in the USB socket then an option "Media Player" should appear within the rotation when you keep pressing SRC on the steering wheel.

I don't knoiw why it will accept some USB devices and not others, mine wouln't play with my free Fiat USB stick, It is honestly so simple when you get the right stick. I messed on with mine for ages speaking to that woman and all sorts. I just used USB's I had kicking about. Good Luck. x

Just been using a SD card reader shaped like a USB stick with a FAT formatted 256mb card. If you want a bargain they are from Poundland and there are no prizes for guessing the price. They are quick readers too. There were a few different ones, mine was clear with what looks like a black blob in the middle of the circuit board. Mine was from the Sheffield one on The Moor (right at far corner of shop on end of aisle). Retractable USB cables for a quid with adaptors too.

Been playing WAVs, MP3s, WMAs. Tested mp3s both within the top level "root" directory (E:\) and also within a folder. All played fine.

Also plugged in my 2nd gen Nano, FAT32 formatted and Itunes controlled. B&M found the stuff fine though it seemed to take a while for it to fully recognise the player (and for it to appear on the Tuner/CD/etc rotation from the SRC button). Also, albums didn't seem to play in track order but I did select play folder rather than play album.

M4A files, the unprotected itunes files are not recognised which is naff as Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6 media player will play them. B&M may be based on an older version of Windows CE (the platform on which Mobile 6 is built) but unfortunately I updated my Windows Mobile 5 phone to 6 when the upgrade became available.
