Default Passanger Airbag - Turn off switch

Hello all, just bought a baby car seat (its due in 5 weeks!!!!!!) and want to sit it in the front seat of the 500, (not the drivers quite yet) Now I know i've seen the de-activation key in a panda 100 hp, but can I assume this is in the 500 also? There's nothign in the brochure and I bloomin forgot to look at the dealers at the weekend?

Will

I'm sure I have read somewhere that there IS a kill switch for the airbag.

We've got three under 4 years old and I can only suggest sticking the baby in the back - not beside you in the front. Last thing you want is to be looking left to check that he/she is ok in here car seat, haven't dropped their dummy, burped or whatever, and looking away from the road when you might miss someone coming the other way/out of a junction or whatever. Provided they are strapped in right at the back (and for the first 9 months or so they are going to be rear-facing before you can get them into a decent ISOFIX forward facing seat) nothing is going to happen to them - leaving you to keep both eyes on the road. Safest for both of you.

There is a front passenger disable switch according to Euro NCAP
Don't have the brochure to hand, but I'm sure it says the same thing.

Euro NCAP - For safer cars | Fiat 500

... Update ...

Checked the eBrochure (PDF version) and no, it doesn't mention the airbag cutoff switch.

The airbag deactivation can apparently be accessed through the trip computer thingie.

I would repeat the previous advice though - get a good quality ISOFIX seat which is fitted in the rear of the car. Much safer than fiddling around with seats belts trying to make sure they are attached properly.

Also, if you get a set up like the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix car seat, the base remains permanently in the car and you can just remove the seat from the car and click the seat straioght into a frame such as the Quinny Zapp (which folds up tiny and will fit perfectly in the boot of a 500!)

Isn't there an ISOFIX attachment on the front passenger seat too, which deactivates the airbag when you plug the child seat in ?

No.

Because the front seat slides backwards and forwards there is nowhere to mount the Isofix points.
