Default Ecodrive Install

Hi All

Anyone tried / managed to install ecodrive on their 500 ?

I tried 3 times yesterday - seemed to start OK, display in speedo said "updating..." then after about a minute or so the B&M voice said something along the lines of "Update error - check usb memory" or something to that effect. I did it according to the instructions - plugged USB stick in, switched ignition on but didnt start engine, but nothing. There is music on the USB stick and that plays OK - was going to try it on a blank USB pen but I want it to store the data on the same pen as the music.

Also (and not sure if related to above) - I tried doing a B&M update when I first got the car until I realised it was going to use the phone as a modem and I don't have an internet package on it so I paused it. I can't find an option to cancel the update, just to resume it. I was going to try a hard reboot of B&M but can't figure out how to do that either (disconnect car battery ? ? )

Any ideas on any of the above appreciated

Ta

Neil

I've got a similar problem whereby at every ignition on I get a "Updating, update complete, please remove USB memory", even though the software has already updated. If I remove the actual application (the .CAB file) from the memory stick I get a "Config. error" appearing on the instrument cluster. I asked the Blue & Me technical support and was told to reinstall the software on my PC and prepare the USB drive again. This, as I suspected, didn't work and I still have the same problem. Suffice to say I am fed up of Ecodrive and will be getting rid of it.

I take it all back ...

Found a tip from the FIAT forums. The update on my car was corrupted and the INSTALL.INF file which lives in the root directory of the USB drive was not being removed after an update. I didn't see the file amidst all my other music files - but deleting that fixes my problem. It's this file that tells the Blue&Me which file to install.

Same for me, it just went round and round saying update error, take out usb and delete the install file off the usb stick and then its cured. aparently it does install the first time but there is a bug that stops it removing the file afterwards!

I am definitely not an expert but this was copied from the Fiat site. I get Updating, update complete, please remove USB stick etc but that is only when I plug the USB stick in to download data back on to the USB stick regarding the previous weeks driving.

PS I am one of the '[i]low absorption owners!' .... PUNK GREY & IVORY.... and love it !

Hi Guys,

In theory the installer should remove itself automatically, but I guess this isn't happening. To fix the problem you are seeing, you can remove the install.inf file in the root directory of your USB Key.

Hope that helps!
