Default Tailored Mats with '500' logo - how do they fix in?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently bidding on a set of the lovely embroidered 500 mats on Ebay. I notice that they have a hole for floor fixing - like on most cars. However, having looked at the floor of my 500, there is nothing for the hole to go over (hope you understand what I mean)!!

I'm guessing a fair few of you have these mats - how do they lock into place? Do I have to buy something else? Am I missing something already fitted in the footwell? Do the mats come with some sort of fixing kit?

P.S. Do both front mats lock into place or just the driver's side?

Sorry for my stupidity and thanks anybody that can assist!!

Helen x

Hi

I have the mats and driver's one can be screwed to the plastic screw that comes with the mat, others have velcro to fix them in position.

Hope this helps

But how do you screw the plastic screw into the floor of the car?

I wasn't sure how to do it and left my mat unfixed.

As far as I can see (not got my car yet) you position the mat then using a small screw driver put a starter hole in the carpet then using a screw driver screw the attachment into the carpet. Then place the mat onto the fixing then put the cap on to hold them in place. Same as most other manufacturers mats.

Helen, had mine put in when we bought the car - the dealer recommended that we just used the velcro fitted to all 4 mats - the dealer said the screw puts a hole in the carpet when you use it. To date, the velcro is holding them in just fine and they look coooool.....

Hmm,... I think that my mats don't have any velcro attached. I'll have to check it out.

You can pick up Velcro strips (self adhesive) from many DIY and also haberdashery type places.

More like your dealer couldn't be arsed fixing them down (as they are supposed to be).

Thumbs up

The velcro strips are actually stitched into the ivory ribbing round the edge of the mats - the dealer stated that the screw cuts a whole in your carpet so they don't recommend using them. I had a Mini previously and this had the screw fitting - I found with those that every time I took the mats out the whole just got bigger as I couldn't hit the same spot again.
