There has been suggestion elsewhere (cough) that the Balmer Lawn might not be good for parking. I 'm not sure about that, but I can suggest other venue if people are interested Alice Holt near Farnham in Surrey
Alice Holt Forest Woodland Park - DAYoutWITHtheKIDS.co.uk

It is similar to Balmer Lawn, there are things to do for kids (play area, climbing wall, large grassy area for games, nature trail with climbing frames in shapes of animals for active children etc), lots of long or short walks for health concious, bikes for hire. There is a nice picnic area next to pond and shaded by trees, although there are not many tables (around 4 I recon) but grassy area can be used for picnics. I thik the BBQ can bee booked, so will look into that if people are interested in the venue. Only charge is parking (lots of it and close so you can admire the line up ) and that is maximum £5 for over 4 hours stay, less than that if you want to stay shorter.

I don't know if there will be interest in the place but it is more centrally placed for London than New Forest, so I thought I might as well suggest it as I have already been there on numerous occasions and can thoroughly recommend it. What do you think?

Update on Alice Holt venue:

I have chased some people with questions as to putting up gazebos (in case of bad weather) and BBQs and this is the answer:

As far as I am concerned I can see no problem in your erecting a gazebo on the condition that it is not too large and overbearing. Unfortunately you are not permitted to bring BBQ's with you due to Fire Safety Standards but we do have two permanent BBQ's here on site which are available to hire (£25 for a 5 hour session.)

It would be good to have some feedback on the venue and, if positive, some say if people would like to book the BBQ or not. Not urgent, but thought that there might be sun escapees so better to get some answers before the BIg Exodus... (although with prices up and the cost of living, how many people are actually going somewhere?)

How do they decide what is too big and overbearing? Sounds a little vague, potentially a hitch if they don't like what they see on the day?

You can count me and my husband in. I think it will be great fun. The New forest would be best for us, as we live by the Forest. There are lots of car parks in the forest, or Moors Valley is a great place.

So it looks like it's either Alice Holt or Moors Valley then.

Do you have a update on this meeting?? September will be here very soon. I am still up for Moors Valley. I can't wait to meet all the other 500's.
