Default Oliver gatecrashes "Smart" meet

Hi all,

i am still in contact with my pals from the Smart owners club and heard that they were having a drive to the lake district on sunday so thought we would tag along.

What a great day, fab weather , fab roads and Olivers first big run out with both Son and dog in the back.

General route was met a lymm services on the M6 and then onto the Tickled Trout at Preston. We then headed of to Kendal for a spot of shopping, only to find all the shops were shut, but hey never mind the road to Kendal was worth it . Me and Oliver loved every minute.

Then we headed off to Windemere for a picnic , found a great spot by the lake so Bailey (the dog) could cool off in the lake.

After lunch it was off on drive round the lakes and we ended up on the Ferry.

Now normally all the smarts take the attention but the minute we pulled away little oliver was the centre of attention with people coming over saying how much they love them and wanting a closer look. , really made my day.

Getting off the ferry queing on the other side was a cha cha azure so we all waved at each other like loons.....great.
After the ferry another great road to Barrow and then off home.

Only downside was getting stuck in traffic on the M6 back due to an accident.

All in all a fab day out , loved chucking Ollie around the country lanes but spent all day giving him a rub down he was like a bug graveyard this morning.....

Cant wait till the club takes off even more and we can look at organising something for ourselves.

some piccs below ........I am amzed how big the smart's look , Its hard to tell which is the four seater car.

and stole this one from the Smart site (will pay you copyright Phil in the usual manner.....)

Worst company I've ever dealt with, and most disappointing (and unreliable) car I've ever owned:

Shame, as I had such high hopes and really, really liked the concept and styling.

Don't get me started, I get mad just thinking about it, and I don't want to ruin this thread about a nice day out on a Smart run.

er, yes there is that

Dont think you will find any smart owner who has had a happy relationship with a dealer. Mercedes snobs normally.....i once went to have my smart serviced, parked it up and was on the way into the dealers when i was apprehended by "security" asking me to move the car as i had parked in the Mercedes section........ As there was no sign saying "mercedes only" i told him to "go forth and multiply".

it is common knowledge Mercedes only keep Smart going to reduce the CO2 level of its "brands"

If there was ever a case of the car being damaged by the dealer it is Smart.

It is such an opportunity that never got realised through bad management and poor customer service.......however if you look past all that , they ARE cracking little cars....though the roadster is fondly referred to as the "leakster"....

I guess I was lucky, I never had a problem with the roadster. Had alot of trouble with the smart city coupe though, usually had to finnish the work for them as Mercedes kept forgeting to put all the panel fixings back on.

Anyhew, nice to see the 500 out socialising, those country road jaunt meets are usually fun.

Been a run with a ferry before (classic Mini run in Cornwall), it was a blast seeing how many would fit.
