New Fiat 500 pitted against six other cars
August 6th, 2007It seems to have been a little bit of a slow week for Fiat 500 news, so we thought you may be hungry for more of anything 500 related.
Infomotori have an interesting, if all too brief review of the new Fiat 500 compared with six other city cars, including the closely related Fiat Panda. The report is pretty interesting despite offering little more than an overview of each vehicle, and it is good to see the 500 being reviewed on it’s own merits against other down-to-earth models rather than just being glanced over as a stylish and unique car.
Read the full review on the Infomotori website, who also have a few other “500 versus” articles which we feel are worth a read too.

I didn’t know there was an english infomotori website! Especially interesting was the “Long Test Drive” article: http://www.infomotori.co.uk/a_ENG_20522_1.html

Interesting to read an italian commentary.
I’ve driven the Panda 100 and found it gutless around town - no torque - although the engine is sweet. Also, it seems thirsty, as people seem to get only around 37mpg. Not good then, little cars should have bags of immediate short-pedal shove, and sip the, very expensive, juice. Get the Diesel I reckon, there’s still a lag before the go, but then real zip and torque - and decent economy. Without economy what’s the point?

Some nice articles from infomotori.
I found there is plenty of room in the front for very tall people as long as you don’t expect to put people in the back at the same time! Think of it as a 2 seater and 2 people six foot plus will fit inside easily.
I agree the 100hp PANDA is a bit gutless in town and so I expect the 500 to be similar, and not ideal as a city car.
